The Second Group for the UMUN



        In order to bring up excellent college students who can speak English well and develop advanced education strategy that can catch up with the top-class standards of the world, our school stared to choose and send some students to join the National Model United Nations (NMUN). After strict exam, You Yang(Leader), Bai Fan, Chen Mengting, Zhang Zhiqun, Zhang Qian, Shen Yao, Tang Xiaopeng, Xu Mengsha and Lu Huiqiong were admitted to attend this year'' NMUN.


        NMUN, formerly the Model United Nations founded in 1947 has developed to the biggest activity of Model United Nations for college students all over the world. Now, it is one of the three most authoritative Model United Nations organizations with Harvard University MUN and Austrian MUN.


        Although it''s the second time our school attended UMUN, students achieved great progress and success with their wisdom, hardworking and united spirit. It showed their good integrated abilities of thinking, expressing and communicating. At the same time, students went abroad, joined the activities themselves and learned the rules and system of international organizations practically.


        What some students have learnt:


Chen Mengting: It''s a good opportunity for me to improve the thinking ability and academic depth. At a place full of differences of culture and thought, the UMUN is a pretty great challenge for every attendee. We had to study hard and combine what we have learned in class with practical problems.


Zhang Qian: Our themes contained "Structuring and Implementation of the New Human Rights Council" ¡¢"Improving Regional Partnerships in Peacekeeping Operations" ¡¢"Preventing an Arms Race in Outer Space" and other hot issues about international politics and economics. To communicate with the thoughts of different countries help us to know more and complete about the world. And our English was improved.

Zhang Zhiqun: We had to look for background information about our themes, prepare the paper and makeup the study of English speech, writing, debate and etiquette, diplomatic theories in a limited time. It improved us a lot. And the professional guide teachers from Kennedy Political College of Harvard University, Montr¨¦al University and California University helped us on the academic study and professional abilities.


Bai Fan: The biggest achievement I got is communication. I have learned a lot how to communicate with partners and express yourself in a complex organization. And I knew confidence, courage, logic and persuasion were so important.


Xu Mengsha: Harvard University and Yale University impressed me deeply. I like the freedom in the campus, students reading or talking on the grass. It''s so nice.


Shen Danni: Foreign students are more active than us. We should be more brave to express our thoughts. I felt this deeper.


Tang Xiaopeng: Professor Huangda has told us to learn how to change flexibly between two kinds of culture. I understand his words better now. We should train to have the thoughts of internationalization.


        Our school will continue to support more students going abroad for further education and more opportunities to improve.
